Privacy

Last updated July 2026

Draft summary for the DeskTails MVP, pending final legal review. It reflects the product's data practices; it is not yet a binding privacy policy.

DeskTails is built privacy-first. This page summarizes what we collect, why, and the controls you have. A complete data map is maintained alongside the product.

Your pet photos stay on your device

When you create your pet, the original photo is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by default. Only the finished, background-removed cutout is stored — in private storage scoped to your account. We re-encode images to strip embedded metadata (such as location data) and never use your photos for marketing, public galleries, analytics, or model training without your separate, explicit consent.

What we collect

  • Account details you provide: email, display name, timezone.
  • Your processed pet cutout and room configuration.
  • Focus-session records, rewards, inventory, and diary entries.
  • Billing identifiers held by our payment processor (Stripe).
  • Pseudonymous product analytics, subject to your consent choices.

We never place pet images, image URLs, access tokens, or task text into logs or analytics.

Your controls

  • Export your personal data in a machine-readable format.
  • Delete your pet photo without deleting your account.
  • Delete your entire account and associated data.
  • Revoke push notifications and manage email preferences.
  • Manage or cancel billing through the Stripe Customer Portal.

Transactional and marketing email consent are managed separately. See Support to make a data request.
